Eklund the fraud

Hockey fans may have recently been the victims of false information and intentional rumors, and further investigation is pinpointing the phenomenon to a particular hockey rumors web blog that has reached hundreds of young and impressionable fans.

Those fans in turn spread the rumors around the web via various message forum communities and websites dedicated to the teams of the NHL and their fans. Most recently, the rumor that the NHL and NHLPA have reached an agreement in principle, went full circle and appeared on a major news and information source, and subsequently spread throughout the country like a wildfire! This morning, several news releases from the NHL as well as the players union have confirmed the rumor that meetings are indeed continuing through the weekend in New York, however denied all allegations that any deal had been met.

An inside source, who prefers to remain nameless has come forward with some interesting information about the recent hockey rumors blog phenomenon which was evidently started by someone using the name of an ex- Dallas Stars forward; Pelle Eklund...

The inside source reports that "Eklund" who actually goes by the name Trevor Whitley is no more than a postal room worker for The Hockey News; "Trevor is a good kid, he has good intentions and probably never meant for this to grow to this extent, but what he doesn't realize is that his shenanigans are effecting a lot of young hockey fans who are buying into his lies" said the unnamed source. "What makes it worse is that now it has apparently spread to legitimate news sources"

Federal investigators have been contacted about the allegations; however they fear that not much can be done. "The web is a completely free source of information" said Doug Janney, Director of Internet Investigations. "It's unfortunate when you have someone twisting the truth in this manner, but unfortunately, that is their God given right. If people choose to believe the rumor, that’s completely on them."

Early indication....from the rumor mill...

Last night the sides agreed to a split deal

First 3 years a stiff luxury tax
Second 3 years a cap if the luxury tax failed to slow salaries

When they left last night that was what was on the table, according to my source.

Today they were trying to tackle the difficult task of determining what would determine if salaries had slowed.

Today the NHL went back to the Hard Cap.

The players were acting in good faith, but the owners weren't.

Again this is just speculation at this early stage.

The meeting went long and now none of the media knows but of course I do. I always know. But they told me to keep it off the blog, so normally since I don't ever censor myself I figured I might as well this time.

I've turned comments back on, but only for people with IQs well under 80 who still think I'm the greatest hockey journalist in the world. Now everyone can read my reumars and then say "Thanks Eklund, I don't care if you made everything up, I love you so much, my life is meaningless without the benevolent Eklund."

I mean, did you read my last 'article.' If the notion that I'm a freelance hockey writer (good luck making a living at that) wasn't debunked before, it has to be now. It was a collection of crappy sob stories from fans who are almost as pathetic as Eklund's commenters. Most blogs wouldn't print something that terrible, nevermind the New York Times. Imagine the editor of the Times receiving that pile of crap... "My son is sad because hockey went away... My girlfriend lost her job selling NHL shirts and now we had to move... My husband worked until he was 84 to be a stick boy for the Hartford Whalers and now he had to move across the country and sell his body for money." Garbage. Utter and complete garbage. If a columnist wrote something like that his editor would hit the delete button and hire someone else.

I have turned comments of on my blog because too many people were proving how easy it is to reproduce the 'reumers' that I was writing. A lot of others were writing reaumers and my traffic was going out therough the comemnts section to these other reumers sites and no one could tell the difference between then. Those other reumers tellers are crafty, but I have a plan to get rid fo them. If I turn off comments, then no one will read my site anymore and that will mean no one will need to read other rumoers sites so they'll fold up shop. I'm a sportswriter but I don't believe in free speech. WHy should people be able to comment on my rumours! Of course they are wrong! I just make them up! How can anyone try to tell me that and me not act on it. Outragiss.

A call to battle

Well, the thing is I am about to "out" myself by what I'm about to do, but I need help. I am angry. Angry at the current lockout situation, and the complete lack of respect fans and employees of hockey are getting these days. I'm a journalist, so I'm not sure why I'm so angry, but I've got a really crappy idea for a way to deal with this. If you are a fan, you are being beanragged by Bettman and Robbin', if you are player you are being misrepresented, if you are an employee you are having serious problems buying meat while these rich guys fight over whether or not the average salary will be 0.5 or 13.8 million. I know most of you don't think i am am legit (imagine that! a guy on a blog who's ideas never come to fruition! how could you not believe!)...I'm making up stuff (I admit it). Yes I have been posting rumors for years over at Whackadoo.com. Some have come true, but most haven't... that is the probability of rumors made up by a pimply 17 year old kid in his parents' basement..

Regardless of what you think of me, I started this blog as a way of getting the voices in my head heard, and shedding some positive light on a negative situation, even if it has nothing to do with what's actually happening. I've been told if you get 4 hits a day on a blog it is a 'MIRACLE BLOG.' Regardless of what you think of me, I get over 14 hits a day, meaning my credibility is on par with a monkey typing at a keyboard. And I get hundreds of e-mails from people telling me there stories (see, I can't even spell their right... I must be a hockey writer), why they believe in me, and why they are thankful for positive info (the morons).

Believe in me! I'm about to out myself... just wait... post is coming.

Ferraro says Eklund a fraud

Ex-NHLer Ray Ferraro stated on Vancouver radio that a blogger by the name of Eklund, not me I'm Pekland, is a fraud and has been making things up for months now just so he makes $50 a day on google ads. Ferraro wouldn't like, so he's a good source for this information. He works for ESPN.

Wow. No wonder it's hard to find him in that meeting I said was happening but wasn't actually happening but made my google ads a lot of money anyway. At least people liked it when I said that they were all hi-fiving! If I can imagine anyone hi-fiving after a meeting, it's Bettman. He just seems like that. Plus he's a ninja.

Leaving on a jet plane

I'm a freelance writer, but I still get sent to Toronto hotels any time a meeting happens. How a publication can afford this, I have no idea... I mean, it would make no sense. Nevermind the fact that no one saw a Philadelphia area reporter at the hotel that day... that was just cause I'm so stealth. I get my sources from tarot cards sometimes, but only when it's an attractice tarot reader.

AGENT SAYS LOCKOUT ALMOST OVER

An agent for Miroslav Satan says that the lockout is going to be over within the next two hours.

From my source; "The owners are getting tired of Goodenow and are just doing to fire him for good. Goodenow will have no choice but to take the firing... and I expect he'll show up on the Apprentice 4."

Then I know what will happen. Trump will say "your fired Goodenot!"

I'm writing a story that is from all of the stories I got emailed form people affected by the lockout. I can't believe how hard some people have been affected. It's really affecting some people so I needed to help from my heart how can someone read this and not be affected. I'm talking to my editor — a sock puppet named Mippy — and we are writing a stoyr that will tell everyone about how people have bene affected nad i hope that it makes mr bettman and goodenow teaally think about what is going on. The money will change there minds in the end because that's all that is happening here. MONEY. Cold hard cash. The almighty dollar.

Mippy says I have to get back to work. You'll see the article soon. I sent it to many majer newspapers and publications and they'll all print it my friends there said. It's under then name Elle Pekland. So read your papers tomororw for it.

The SECRET meatings

Just a shorte note. I have it on a good source that the meatings were in a room not far from me. I held a cup to the door and then when Betteman opened the door I had to run away. But here's what my source said:

"The NHLPA has all there information and is ready to travel to Alaska: teleconferences ended on an up note last night and everyone high-fived and danced the watusi."

Thanks for all of the e-mails thanking me for giving you the truth. Mainstream journalists don't want to tell you the truth because it's too secret for them to find out. I can't print some things because Bettman's gag order, but there are some pretty mad mad people. Let me say the mood is gloomy...and they are sickened from the gloom of it.

I also heard from a play-by-play guy who is in the dark. I fedexed him a light bulb and fixed the problem. He has worked for over twenty years and the team he works with won't even give him a light bulb. What kind of people are these?

Paranoia is at an all-time high BOTTOM LINE and both sides so tight lipped, afraid to appear to be budging an inch, while they play with the emotions, stand the test of time, and any other cliche I can possibly stuff into here. My sources are saying less and less as well which is strange since I made them all up.

I will not stay here and make stuff up. That I promise you. I'm full of shit.

Brian Burke gets message
